Highway 61 accident victim identified

The name of the person who died in the two-vehicle crash last night on Highway 61 North has been released. Here, with edits, is the release from the Mississippi Highway Patrol:

This morning just after 12 a.m., (the Mississippi Highway Patrol) was advised of a two-vehicle crash on US-61 near Vicksburg. Preliminary reports indicate that a Kia Optima was traveling southbound in the northbound lane when it crashed head-on with a Forest Products 18-wheeler that was traveling northbound. The driver of the Kia Optima, identified as Dontrel Gibson 34, of Port Gibson died as a result of his injuries. The driver of the 18-wheeler was not injured. The deceased was transported to the crime lab for an autopsy.
