Valentine makes game winning shot in Outsiders overtime victory

Warren Central Intermediate sixth-grader Corderrion Valentine helped his youth basketball team to a 22-19 victory over the weekend.

Valentine plays for the Outsiders, which is a team built with fifth and sixth graders from the Vicksburg-Warrren School District.

The Outsiders played against the Knights Saturday, Dec. 14. Near the end of the fourth quarter, the Outsiders were down 19-16. Then, Cannon Jackson shot a long 3 pointer. At the end of regular play, the game was tied at 19-19, forcing it to go to overtime.

Once the game made it to overtime, both teams played hard defense, but Valentine got open and threw up a big 3 pointer to win the game 22-19.

Jackson led the game with 11 points, followed by Valentine who had 7 points. Other teammates also helped with points in crunch time including Luke Bond and Braden Cooper who both scored a big shot to help secure the win.
