Derric Hawthorn named to the Don Hansen All-American team

Mississippi College football player Derric Hawthorn has been named to the Don Hansen All-American team.

Hawthorn earned honorable mention after helping lead the Choctaw defense last season.  Hawthorne had 59 tackles, two interceptions and three defensive touchdowns in 2019.

Hawthorn is from Collins, Mississippi, where he helped Collins High School win the 2014 state championship in his junior season. Hawthorn had 54 tackles and three interceptions that year. In his senior season, Hawthorn played quarterback where he threw for 40 touchdowns and 4,128 yards, leading his team to a 15-1 record and another state championship.

Mississippi College went 5-5 in 2019. Their five victories were all at home where they remained undefeated.
