Eagle Lake man dies in early morning crash

Just after midnight Friday morning, Vicksburg-Warren 911 was notified of a motor vehicle crash on Mississippi Highway 465 at the intersection of Eagle Lake Shore Road.

Warren County Deputy Daniel Thomas arrived on scene within a couple of minutes followed by Eagle Lake firefighters. They recovered the body of Dakota Nevels, 29, of the Eagle Lake community.

Sgt. Kervin Stewart with the Mississippi Highway Patrol said the investigation indicates Nevels’ vehicle left the roadway (465), crossed Eagle Lake Shore Drive and came to rest upside down in the water on the opposite side of the intersection. Nevels was ejected from the vehicle.

Warren County Coroner Doug Huskey pronounced Nevels dead at the scene.

In addition to the MHP, the Warren County Sheriff’s Office and the Vicksburg Fire Department’s Rescue and a Fire Medic Unit responded to the crash.
