Porter’s Chapel Academy defensive lineman Rashad Simms will be returning this season to help lead the Eagles’ defense. The high school football season is set to begin in less than a month.

Simms starred for the Eagles last season under head coach Blake Purvis, and he became one of the toughest guys on the field. He began showing his impressive skills as a freshman last season, but he has been getting playing time on the varsity field since he was in eighth grade.

Simms finished last season with 35 tackles and a fumble recovery. He has three more seasons as an Eagle, and he continues to show improvement during his summer workouts.

As workouts will become much more physical soon, Simms will spend a lot of time with defensive lineman coach Josh Masterson, who is helping him prepare to be the best player he can be.

PCA is scheduled to begin its football season Aug. 14 against Benton Academy in Benton, Mississippi, at 7 p.m.
