VPD incident report: residential and auto burglaries, forged check

Officers with the Vicksburg Police Department responded to the following incidents Monday, July 27.

Two residential burglaries were reported:

  • At 12:40 a.m. officers responded to a residence in the 100 block of Cornell Street, The homeowner stated the front door to the residence had been kicked in and a Hisense 50-inch plasma television valued at $298, an amplifier valued at $200, an RCA 40-inch plasma television valued at $120, and two PlayStation 4s valued at $300 each were taken from the residence.
  • At 2:47 p.m. officers responded to an address in the 6300 block of Common Circle. The resident said that someone entered his home and stole a Springfield Model 1911 handgun with a magazine and holster, seven bottles of Ole Smokey whiskey, two bottles of John Emerald whiskey, eight packs of cigarettes, and a K-Bar knife. Total estimated value of the missing items is $1,835.

Monday just after midnight, officers responded to an address in the 3400 block of Wisconsin Avenue on a call for an auto burglary. The victim reported someone had entered her unlocked vehicle and stolen a Walmart credit card and a Wood Forest Bank debit card.

At 7:37 a.m. officers responded to Marcus Furniture Store, 1210 Washington St., in reference to a forged check. The complainant reported that a subject wrote a $1,400 check on an account that was not his.
