Vicksburg Mayor George Flaggs Jr. is suggesting spending $4 million to repave Vicksburg’s streets. He announced the spend to the Board of Mayor and Alderman Monday

“I am recommending that we spend $2 millions in the North Ward and $2 million in the South Ward for repavements,” Flaggs said.

Flaggs plans on presenting a proposal for the paving project during a work session Feb. 8 with South Ward Alderman Alex Monsour and North Ward Alderman Michael Mayfield Sr.

To fund some the recent projects that Flaggs has proposed such as a new fire station, second floor of the police department and road paving, Flaggs asked for a 1% sales tax in his legislative agenda earlier this month; however, the proposal was dropped due to opposition from Alderman Monsour.
