Vicksburg native Alexander Shaw helped the Jackson State University football team to a big 43-7 win over state rivals Mississippi Valley State University.

Shaw racked up 11 tackles in the game, where the Tigers only allowed one touchdown. He also had a pass deflection in the blowout victory.

JSU had a slow but strong start at the beginning of the game, ending the first quarter with a 7-0 lead. They quickly picked up the pace and scored 23 points in the second quarter. By halftime, the Tigers were holding a 30-0 lead.

Both teams went scoreless in the third quarter before MVSU was able to get on the board in the fourth quarter.

Shaw is a 2017 graduate of WC, where he was a first-team All-District player. He will lead JSU onto the field next Saturday at Alabama State University.
