Culkin firefighters are responding to large grass fire

Culkin firefighters are currently on scene and en route to a large grass fire on Highway 61 north, near the railroad tracks across from Redwood School.

Engines 202, 207 and 209 are responding.

Early reports state the fire is located in a field surrounded by flood water.

We will update if the situation develops.

[Update 8:37 p.m.] County Fire Coordinator Jerry Briggs says the fire is out.

Briggs stated the fire was most likely started by sparks from the train that runs through the area.
