Early morning crash claims the life of Utica man

The Mississippi Highway Patrol is continuing their investigation into an early morning crash involving a Utica man. In a press release, Master Sgt. Kervin K. Stewart stated that the MHP was advised of a fatal crash on MS-18 near Raymond High School at around 6 a.m.

Preliminary reports indicate that Andre Higgins, 30, of Utica MS, was traveling eastbound on MS-18 when his vehicle became disabled. While outside his vehicle, an oncoming Ram Pickup collided with Mr. Higgins and his vehicle.

Mr. Higgins was pronounced deceased at the scene. The occupant in his vehicle was not injured. The driver of the Ram Pickup was not injured.

The crash is currently under investigation by the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
