Two members of the Vicksburg Fire Department, Robert Belk and Dana Myrick, were promoted on Friday to higher ranks.

Belk was promoted from Lieutenant to Captain while Myrick transitioned from firefighter EMT to Lieutenant. Fire Chief Craig Danczyk and Assistant Chief Derrick Stamps Sr. both pinned the two in representation of their promotions.

Danczyk commented that the two were deserving of their new status, demonstrating teamwork and leadership. “It’s wonderful when you get the chance to promote deserving people and people that are great teammates that do the work and lead from the front,” stated Danczyk.

Both Belk and Myrick expressed their gratitude for the opportunity and were able to share their accomplishment while surrounded by coworkers and family.

I’m looking forward to serving as a Captain,” Belk said. “I’ve enjoyed being a Lieutenant and I’m ready to try to do the best I can do.”

“I want to thank everyone here and the chief for bring me on to this department and I appreciate everyone who reached out and said congratulations,” Myrick said.

Both Belk and Myrick work long hours each week to ensure that our city stays safe, continuing to be examples to their community.
