Rising junior Caples was a defensive threat for the Missy Gators

Upcoming junior Janiah Caples played a big role for the Missy Gators basketball team this past year in a successful season reaching the class 5A playoffs.
Caples was mostly known for her defensive skills this season as she was able to shut down many of her opponents throughout the year. Caples averaged three blocks and three steals per game. She also won the best defensive player of the year award for the Missy Gators.
Besides starring on defense, Caples also had some impressive games on offense where she scored in the double digits. She scored 14 points in a win over Ridgeland later in the season and a averaged a little over six points per game as VHS advanced to the semifinals.
Caples is now preparing for her junior season, where she is expected to be dominant player for her team.
