Alcorn State educator Dr. Voletta Williams retires after 32 years

Alcorn State University educator Dr. Voletta Williams has retired from the university after 32 years.
A celebration was held for Williams on Wednesday at the school to celebrate her three decades of dedication to the place she loved.
Williams expressed that her time at Alcorn was great and definitely deserving.
“My experience at Alcorn has been one of the most profitable, pleasurable, and enriching experiences that I could’ve ever been exposed to or sought,” Williams said in a school statement. “I am fulfilled in a way that some could only imagine.”
Williams worked in the Department of Biological Sciences where she spent a wonderful career educating students.
Although Williams is retiring, she still plans to remain a part of Alcorn along with enjoying her family and church.
“I will continue to contribute to Alcorn as needed or requested,” Williams said. “I also plan to explore avenues to serve our multicultural students better, improve STEM areas at Alcorn, spend quality time with family, expand church projects, and remain a mother figure to many students as well as my children and grandchildren. I will be busy.”
