Former VHS standout Phillips to start at running back for Hinds CC

Former Vicksburg High School football player Cedric Phillips is scheduled to make his official start at running back for Hinds Community College Thursday night against Coahoma CC.

Phillips is a 2020 graduate of VHS where he starred for the Gators under former head coach Tim Hughes. He rushed for 1,231 yards in his 2019 senior season and committed to play for the Eagles shortly after.

Phillips, now a sophomore at Hinds CC, is expected in the backfield for the Eagles for their season opener after playing for a short time in the 2020 season.

The away game will start 6:30 p.m.
