Vicksburg natives Malik Sims and Vertez Shorter helped their college teams to a win over the weekend.

Sims grabbed six tackles for the Hinds CC Eagles as they went on to defeat Northeast Mississippi 18-13 on Thursday. They are now 2-1 for the year and will host the Mississippi Gulf Coast Bulldogs on Thursday.

Shorter showed out for the second week in a row for Reinhardt University in their 52-7 win over Campbellsville on Saturday. He racked up two sacks along with two and a half tackles for loss.

Both Sims and Shorter played alongside each other at Hinds last season and are currently continuing to make impact on their teams.
