One of the biggest days in SWAC football will happen on Saturday as Alcorn State University will travel to Jackson State to play in the annual Soul Bowl.

Both the Tigers and Braves have done well in conference play this season. JSU sits at 7-0 (9-1 overall) and ASU is 5-2 (6-4 overall) in the SWAC.

JSU is the only remaining team in the SWAC that is undefeated in conference play, which makes the competition between the Braves even more interesting.

Jackson State, with Shedeur Sanders at quarterback, is coming off a 21-17 win over Southern University, while the Braves gave Prairie View a 31-29 upset with Felix Harper taking the snaps.

The Soul Bowl will be held at JSU at 1 p.m Saturday. A large crowd is expected to be in attendance, cheering on their favorite HBCU.

Saturday’s match will be the first time ASU coach Fred McNair will coach against Deion Sanders who has turned JSU into a dominant program.
