USM defeated MSU 7-1 on Wednesday

The University of Southern Mississippi baseball team knocked off the defending National Champions Mississippi State 7-1 on Wednesday.

MSU pitcher Jackson Fristoe struggled throughout the game. The Golden Eagles were able to profit from the Bulldogs’ mistakes.

Tanner Hall threw 13 strikeouts for USM in the victory and pitched in seven innings. Gabe Montenegro went 3 for 4 at the plate, along with gaining three RBIs for USM.

USM will travel to face Louisiana-Lafayette on Friday. MSU will hit the road to play Tulane on Friday.
