VHS roll past Jefferson County 72-38 on Monday
Vicksburg High School picked up a easy 72-38 win over Jefferson County on Monday night.
“Today’s game was just another practice as we’re getting ready for Northwest Rankin and we came out flat a little bit but overall we played down to the competition but they’re working hard,” VHS Head Coach Kelvin Carter said.
The Gators came out hot in the first quarter by taking the 24-4 lead as Kealon Bass and Davian Williams both knocked down 3-pointers. Malik Franklin got hot in the second quarter which helped VHS go up 45-18.
The second half of the game consisted of VHS continuing to maintain their lead and Kameron Bailey stepped in to put up some points inside the paint.
Franklin led the Gators with 20 points and Williams finished with 19. Markel Derby added 10 on the board and Bailey pitched in 16. K.Ragin led the Tigers with 14 points.
VHS is now 8-0 on the year.
“I’m really feeling good and I’ve been telling a lot of people that we’re just not complete yet but soon as the football team wins that gold ball and we get those players back we’ll be in good shape,” Carter said.
VHS will travel to Northwest Rankin on November 29.
