Mississippi man sentenced after faking his own death to avoid sexual battery charges

A Mississippi man has been sentenced to 21 months in prison for faking his own death in an attempt to avoid criminal charges of impregnating at 14-year-old girl.

Jacob Blair Scott was sentenced Monday in Alabama by U.S. District Judge Jeffrey Beaverstock. The sentencing will run concurrently with the 85-year sentence he received in Mississippi on sexual battery charges.

Scott’s accuser testified that he sexually assaulted her at least 30 times before impregnating her which went on from 2016-2017. He was 40-years-old at the time.

Scott will not be eligible for parole.
