Selvy hit the game-winning shot to lead VJHS seventh graders over WCJHS

Vicksburg Junior High School’s seventh-grade boy’s basketball team got a 22-20 win over Warren Central Junior High’s seventh-grade team on Thursday.

At halftime, WCJHS had a 7-5 lead with Jackson and J. Stewart leading the way for the Vikings. J. Johnson and K. Thomas both got VJHS on the board in the first half.

Coming out of halftime, Deonta Selvy, Jr. hit a 3-pointer along with another shot including one by Corbin Walker but WCJHS stayed on top as M. Sims and Stewart both hit shots.

The Gators took over in the fourth quarter and just as time was expiring Selvy hit the game-winning shot.

Selvy led with 10 points and Johnson put up five points for VJHS. Thomas and Walker both added two points each in the win.

Stewart led the Vikings with six points while Jackson and Sims put up five. J. Defrance and L. Burks both scored two points.
