The St. Aloysius Flashette Dance Team performed in the finals at the national dance team championship at the ESPN Center in Orlando Florida on Saturday where they finished eighth in the nation.

The Flashettes also competed yesterday in semi finals and scored high enough to push them through to finals for the first time in school history.

The team competed with a kick routine, which was new for them this year. It is a very difficult style which must consist of over 60 kicks. Two weeks before the competition the team suffered a major setback when freshman Hayden Bell tore her hamstring. The team had to completely reconstruct the dance, but were able to pull off winning the title of eighth in the nation.

“This team has given me their heart and soul,”Flashettes Head Coach Chesley Lambiotte said. They are a special group of young women who led by faith, have committed themselves to an extraordinary opportunity that pushed their mind, body, and spirit. Our mantra has been dedication, determination and discipline. These ladies embody all of these qualities and I’m beyond proud of them and love them dearly.”
