Fire at Miller’s Southern Comfort Food
At about 1:40 a.m., a call came into the E-911 Call Center reporting a fire at Miller’s Southern Comfort Food on Indiana, in the old KFC building.
Engines 8 and 2, along with Rescue, arrived at the scene within minutes and began putting water on the fire. The initial call indicated that the fire was in the middle of the roof with smoke and flames visible. The first unit to arrive clarified the fire was at the front of the structure.
Miller’s opened in late 2022 and had been enjoying a booming business lunch. In late January they opened the restaurant for dinner.
Owner Miller Rials was observed arriving at the location a few minutes after firefighters had put out most of the fire. It appears the fire started near the front center part of the roof dining room near an HVAC unit. The fire kept reigniting at the location of that unit for several minutes after the rest of the fire was out.
Platform 1, Battalion 1 and Vicksburg Fire Chief Derrick Stamps were all on the scene.
