A 42-year-old man, Frederick Britton, has been sentenced after pleading guilty to felony child abuse in Carroll County. Britton received a 30-year sentence, of which he will serve 15 years, followed by 15 years of post-release supervision.

Britton’s arrest in April 2022 followed a welfare check at a residence on Highway 51 in the Vaiden area. Subsequent investigations revealed that he had subjected the child to severe abuse, which included confining the child in a dog cage, pouring scalding water on them, and physically assaulting the victim.

Since his apprehension, Britton has been held at the Carroll Montgomery Regional Correctional Facility.
