Jerry Sloan steps down as Jazz head coach

Posted by Labelle Bitalac on Feb 11th, 2011 . Utah Jazz head coach Jerry Sloan has announced that he is resigning as from his post. According to reports, Sloan will officially announce his resignation at a news conference to be held Thursday afternoon. The 68-year-old former Chicago Bulls star, who is a Basketball Hall of Fame inductee of 2009, held the longest coaching tenure in American pro sports until he decided to quit. He coached Utah for 23 seasons, establishing a career record of 1,221-803 and leading the team to two NBA finals (1997 and 1998), where they lost on both occasions to the Chicago Bulls, spearheaded by Michael Jordan. Assistant coach Tyrone Corbin will reportedly take over the seat vacated by Sloan.]]]]> ]]>
