Boil water advisory issued for part of Yokena-Jeff Davis Water District

Thursday morning, Aug. 29, water service was temporarily shut off to  customers in  part of the Yokena-Jeff Davis Water district service area due to a broken line.

The area affected was from Wright Road south to Hankinson Road, through Dogwood Road, to Highway 61 South from Blackmon Road to Big Black.

Water service has been restored; however, the area is now under a boil water advisory until further notice.

Under a boil-water advisory, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that water be brought to a rolling boil for one minute before it is consumed in order to kill any protozoa, bacteria and viruses that may be present in the water.
