Former Vicksburg High School star football player Roderick Hicks has signed to play at Mississippi Valley State University.

Raised in Tallulah, La., Hicks moved with his family to Vicksburg  in 2014 when he was in junior high. Hicks would not play football in Vicksburg until he reached his junior year at Vicksburg High School in 2016 under head coach Marcus Rogers.

The Gators had a great season that year, and Hicks helped his team to a 9-4 record starring at cornerback.

Hicks again helped the Gators to another playoff season as a senior in 2017.

After his senior season at VHS, Hicks committed to play at Jones Community College alongside his VHS teammate Nick Anderson.

For the past two seasons, Hicks has played cornerback for Jones CC helping them secure a 7-3 record this year and being ranked No. 7 in the nation among junior colleges.

Hicks credits his success to his mother, Dino Watson, former VHS coaches Rogers and Billy King, and his entire Jones Community College family.

Hicks will begin his football journey at Mississippi Valley State in January.
