A trooper with the Mississippi Highway Patrol was injured in a crash with an 18-wheeler this morning.

MHP said in a release that the trooper was en route to a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 20 involving a passenger car and an 18-wheeler west of Clinton at around 5:15 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 8, when a truck crossed into his path westbound on I-20 near the Pearl River.

The trooper had all of his emergency equipment activated at the time of the crash, which caused extensive damage to the patrol car and non-life threatening injuries to the trooper.

The driver of the 18-wheeler came to a stop at the Ellis Avenue exit in Hinds County. This crash is currently under investigation and more information will be released pending the outcome of the investigation.
