Former Mississippi State University football standout Nick Fitzgerald has signed a deal to play football with the XFL, a development league for football players.

Fitzgerald played this past season for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before being cut in October. The St. Louis BattleHawks will be the new home for Fitzgerald, who once starred on the gridiron for MSU from 2015 to 2018.

At MSU, Fitzgerald played mostly under former coach Dan Mullen. Coach Joe Moorhead took over the Bulldogs the next season when he and Fitzgerald led the team to a bowl game.

Fitzgerald will now be teammates with former Ole Miss quarterback Jordan Ta’amu who also plays for the BattleHawks.
