Stirgus headed to coach at Southern Arkansas University

Alexus Stirgus, a former standout Vicksburg High School basketball player, has been offered a position as coach at Southern Arkansas University.

Stirgus made the announcement that she had accepted an assistant coaching position for Southern Arkansas on Facebook.

Stirgus is a 2010 graduate of VHS where she lead the Gators to a 16-9 season in her 2009-2010 senior year.

After high school, Stirgus led Copiah-Lincoln Community College to a regional and state title in her two seasons playing for the school. She played for Mississippi College from 2012 to 2014 averaging 12.2 points per game.

She was assistant coach at Clinton High School for three seasons, helping the Lady Arrows reached the playoffs twice during that time.

Stirgus has been a graduate assistant for the past two seasons at Mississippi College where she helped the Lady Choctaws to a 13-14 season this past year.
