Bobby McGee, a suspected accomplice to a Vicksburg murder, remains on the run more than a week after the crime occurred.

Vicksburg Police identified McGee as the driver of a pickup truck used to assist Summer McGee, his sister, to flee the scene of the crime Friday, May 15.

Moses Luckett, 37, died of a gunshot wound to his chest at the New Main Apartments about 12:25 p.m. that day. Police identified Summer McGee as the shooter and Bobby McGee as the driver of the truck used to escape the scene.

Yazoo County Sheriff Jacob Sheriff captured Summer McGee later Friday, May 15, just north of the Warren County line on state Highway 3. Bobby McGee fled into the woods and has been on the run since.

Bobby McGee, who is about 22 years old, is suspected of subsequently breaking into a car in the Tinsley, Mississippi, area and stealing a gun, then later stealing a truck in Denbury, Mississippi, according to Terry Gann, chief investigator with the Yazoo Sheriff’s office. The truck was later recovered south of Yazoo City, the Yazoo Herald reports.

McGee is also wanted in connection with a drive-by shooting in Yazoo County in April. He apparently has a long and violent felony record, which includes a 2018 arrest for aggravated assault and possession of a gun by a felon.

Summer McGee is being held on $1 million bond for the Luckett murder.

If you have any information on the whereabouts of Bobby McGee, please call the Yazoo County Sheriff’s Office at 662-746-5611 or Crime Stoppers at 601-756-TIPS.
