Monsour wins re-election in bid for South Ward
It was a close race Tuesday night between incumbent South Ward Alderman Alex Monsour and challenger Vickie Bailey.
While Bailey came out strong in the initial count, Monsour quickly gained ground, making the race too close to call by the time all precincts had reported.
Michael Mayfield, who previously secured the North Ward during the primary election, garnered a vote count of 1,488. Bailey and Monsour were within a few votes of each other, with Bailey at 967 votes and Monsour at 1,087 votes.
The race for the South Ward came down to 206 absentee ballots and 20 affidavits which were counted after our live coverage of the race ended.
