Port Gibson High School girl’s basketball team defeated Jefferson County 35-27 on Tuesday.

The Blue Waves took a 10-8 lead as Flowers went hard in the first quarter while Pree and O’Quinn helped JC keep the score close. By halftime, PG took a 19-11 lead as Thomas secured a few points.

The Blue Waves’ defense only allowed two points in the third quarter while Thomas, Flowers and Evans helped push their lead to 27-13 heading into the fourth quarter.

PG managed to stay ahead in the fourth quarter  as Evans brought in some key shots but O’Quinn stepped up for the Lady Tigers to narrow the Blue Waves’ lead.

Flowers led PG with 16 points and Evans put up eight. Thomas added nine on the board and R. Davis finished with two.

O’Quinn scored 14 for JC and Pree finished with eight.
