Just after 11 p.m. Thursday, Vicksburg Fire units were dispatched to the 900 block of National Street for a structure fire.

The home was heavily damaged in the blaze but no one was injured.

According to Chief Derrick Stamps, “E7 was the first unit on scene and advised there is a fire; flames and smoke are showing from the B-side(left) of the structure.”

The residents were not at home and there were no reported injuries from firefighters.

Investigator Nathaniel Williams was called to the scene to determine the cause of the fire which remains under investigation.

Engine 7, Engine 6, Platform 1 and FireMedic 40 all responded to the call.

The family lost all their clothes and belongings to the flames. Friends of the family have contacted the Vicksburg Daily News to request the community assist the family with clothes and anything they can.

They’ve set up a GoFundMe account. The mom, Kenyada Anderson, stated in the request for assistance, “I also understand that in these times we all are having some hardships.. so anything is plenty. I will also be taking donations on clothes, under garnets as well as clothes and under garments for my daughter who is 13 years old.”
