Two Indicted on murder charges

Two individuals have been indicted for a March 2022 murder in Vicksburg.

Taree Johnson, 31, and Jessica Miller, 28, have been indicted for the murder of Lois Gaskin who was killed at the Waltersville Estates and aggravated assault.

In March 2022, police were dispatched to King Drive. Moments later, several callers reported there was a large fight going on between building 130 and building 30. A few minutes later another call was received, stating someone had been stabbed in the altercation.

Gaskin was transported by private vehicle to Merit Health River Region emergency room and was pronounced dead shortly after.

Police at the scene discovered another woman had also been stabbed in the fight. She was treated at the scene by FireMedic 40 and transported to the hospital. Her wounds were not believed to have been life-threatening. A third person, a man, was also treated by FireMedic 40 for a cut on his left arm. He was treated at the scene.
