Alcorn State University baseball team had a profitable weekend, winning two out of three games against Alabama A&M.

The Braves suffered a 2 – 9 loss in the first match on Friday but bounced back strong on Saturday and Sunday.

ASU pulled out all the stops over the weekend. Their third and ninth innings on Saturday helped them secure the victorious 16 – 4 win over Alabama A&M. David Puckett and Lane Gordon were on the mound for the Braves as they combined for nine strikeouts.

On Sunday, the Braves crushed Alabama A&M 12 – 0 as Khalil Smith led the way with 5 RBIs.

Freshman Kobe Head got the win for the Braves after striking out five batters. Teammates Tristan Garcia and Hunter Wilson also had three RBIs apiece.

The Braves are now 5-5 this season under head coach Brett Richardson and will face Alabama State in a three-game series this weekend.
