Alcorn softball team defeated JSU Thursday

The Alcorn State University softball team took on Jackson State Thursday, where the Braves came out on top in a 11-9 win.

Kiri Parker and Ambria Dorsey both pitched for the Lady Braves as they combined for a total of four strikeouts.

By the top of the third inning, ASU was ahead 7-1 before the Tigers started to rack up scores in the fourth inning.

Takiya Hill and Kayla Owens pitched for JSU and both also combined for four strikeouts.

Parker led ASU with five RBIs, as she went 2 for 4 at the plate with two run scores. Teammate Brittney Triplett racked up three hits on the night to go along with two run scores.

Alexis Arredondo had three RBIs for the Tigers and Samiah Huckabee also got some of the action, putting up three hits.

The two in-state rivals will face each other again on Friday at noon.
