Altercation on Grove Street ends in shooting Saturday

Vicksburg Police are currently investigating a shooting that occurred at around 6 p.m. Saturday, May 8 at the Hillside Apartments at 2234 Grove Street.

Witnesses stated that a group of males were hanging out in front of the building when an argument broke out, police say. As many as three shots were reportedly fired, one striking a 28-year-old male in the buttocks/hip region. The shooter fled on foot from the scene before police arrived.

The victim has been transported to Merit Health River Region with what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators are still on scene interviewing potential witnesses at the time of this writing. The Vicksburg Daily News will bring you more information as it becomes available.
