An all-way stop it is

The Vicksburg Traffic Department was working at the intersection of Cherry Street, Harris Street and Halls Ferry Road today to install flashing red lights at the intersection.

On Oct. 2, an 18 wheeler knocked down the stop lights at that intersection. Over the following weeks, many drivers observed the improved traffic flow without the lights.

The Vicksburg Daily News even wrote an editorial championing the idea.

Sedrick Hall carries one of the flashing lights to be installed. They’re a lot bigger than they appear.

Today they are finishing the installation and those lights should be operational in the next couple of hours.

The flashing red lights reinforce that drivers must stop, but will act as an all-way stop, not a traditional red, yellow, green traffic signal.
