Ali Blackmon will begin her final varsity season with Porter’s Chapel Academy’s softball team, where she is one of two players on the squad.

“Practices have been really good so far, and we struggled to find a coach, but now it’s really fun, and I see big things happening for us,” Blackmon said.

In 2022, Blackmon stepped up in her role as a catcher for the Lady Eagles, where she gained a lot of experience at the varsity level. One of her best performances was against Wilkinson County, where she went 2 for 3 with two runs scored in the 11-6 win.

“Getting that experience was exciting and scary but overall it was very fun and I enjoyed it,” Blackmon added.

After missing the playoffs last year, Blackmon is confident that the Lady Eagles will make it back to the postseason this year, as she has assumed a leadership role.

“I plan to be at the top of my game this year and it’s tough being a senior but it’s also fun and the sisterly bond that we all have really keeps me motivated,” she said.
