A young child was seriously injured in a golf cart accident in a sub-division off of Lee Road in Vicksburg on Thursday.

A child, reportedly under the age of 10, suffered a head injury in some sort of mishap involving a golf cart. Just before 11 a.m., the child was rushed to Merit Health River Region where an Air Care helicopter was called in to meet the ambulance and transport the child to Children’s of Mississippi Hospital – Blair E. Batson in Jackson. Merit Health River Region does not keep a neurologist on staff and it is normal procedure to transport any head trauma victims to Jackson.

Few details are available at this time, out of respect for the family.  However, initial reports indicate that there were no other injuries.
