Claiborne County Sheriff’s Department arrests a man for shooting into a home

The Claiborne County Sheriff’s Department arrested a man for shooting into a home.

On Thursday, June 11, at approximately 10:07 a.m., deputies responded to a shooting at a residence on Thompson Road.

The homeowner informed them that someone fired three shots into her home. After investigating, they identified the suspect as Avery Sims.

Later that day, Sims was arrested and charged with shooting into an occupied dwelling. Deputies also recovered a 9-mm handgun.

Sims’ bond was set at $10,000 at his initial court appearance Friday, June 12.
