Discontinued police chase ends in tragedy

VICKSBURG, Miss. (Vicksburg Daily News)–A discontinued police chase resulted in three deceased individuals after an oncoming collision.

According to WLBT, a Flowood police officer was pursuing a vehicle following an attempted traffic stop on Lakeland Drive near the Lakeland Commons.

After the suspect fled, the officer gave chase but discontinued the chase after the driver turned into a nearby mall and entered onto Lakeland Drive traveling in the wrong direction.

Shortly after, the vehicle was involved in a collision with an oncoming vehicle which left three deceased.

The driver was transported to a local hospital. The identities of the victims are not being released at this time.

This investigation is still ongoing with assistance from the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
