ERDC Under the Lights collected more than 7,000 pounds of food
ERDC Under the Lights collected more than 7,000 pounds of food for the Storehouse Food Pantry last weekend.
Food donations were about double the amount from last year, according to Kristy Luckett with ERDC, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Research and Development Center in Vicksburg.
The annual event, now in its fourth year, invited folks to a drive-thru tour of its facility lit up for the Christmas season, with food items serving as admission. The event was held in the evenings from Thursday, Dec. 17, through Saturday, Dec. 19.
Russell and Lindsey Sumrall, owners of Elite Disposal loaned ERDC a Conex container to store and transport the food, which was delivered to the pantry Monday afternoon.
