Fatality in Confederate Avenue accident – VIDEO

Vicksburg police detained an individual in this investigation at about 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

A single car accident has claimed the life of one person Thursday afternoon in Vicksburg.
Around 5:30 p.m., an older model beige Buick Century was headed east on Confederate Avenue. The car left the roadway and traveled down the hill onto the property of the Family Life Cathedral and hit a parked church van. The accident occurred near the intersection of Confederate and Ken Karyl avenues.
The driver of the Buick, a young black male, has been pronounced dead at the scene.
Vicksburg police are investigating the circumstances of the wreck and the man’s death. It is possible that the man was injured before the wreck.
