Flaggs to recommend new VPD position in an effort to prevent crime

Vicksburg Mayor George Flaggs Jr. will soon recommend that a new high-level position be created at the Vicksburg Police Department.
Flaggs made the announcement on Thursday at the Mayor and Board of Alderman meeting.
“I’m looking to create another position under the authority of the police commission that will strengthen our prevention of crime going forward,” Flaggs said.
Flaggs also mentioned that he does not want to hire this individual before the upcoming election. He did not go into many details about the position, but his recommendation should be coming with the next few weeks.
