Former federal corrections officer pleads guilty to taking $7,000 bribes

A former federal corrections officer, Ashley Lovett, has pled guilty to taking bribes in exchange for smuggling contraband to inmates and has been sentenced to 18 months in prison, WLBT reports.

According to the report, Lovett has agreed to forfeit a total of $7,000 she received in bribes. The bribes came from inmates at Yazoo Federal Corrections Complex, among other sources.

Her sentence was carried out on June 29. Three counts of making false statements was dropped by federal prosecutors on Thursday.
