Halloween at the Strand
After trick-or-treating Thursday, head over to the Strand Theatre (717 Clay St.) for a film, a live stage performance, or both.
First up, at 8 p.m. watch an unsettling movie in the Halloween spirit: “Midsommar.”
Dani and Christian are a young American couple whose relationship is on the brink of falling apart. After a family tragedy keeps them together, a grieving Dani invites herself to join Christian and his friends on a trip to a once-in-a-lifetime midsummer festival in a remote Swedish village.
What begins as a carefree summer holiday in a land of eternal sunshine takes a sinister turn when the insular villagers invite their guests to partake in festivities that render the pastoral paradise increasingly unnerving and viscerally disturbing.
From the visionary mind of Ari Aster comes a dread-soaked cinematic fairy tale where a world of darkness unfolds in broad daylight.
Advance tickets for the film are $6 at Highway 61 Coffeehouse (1101 Washington St.) and $8 at the door.
Brad, Janet, Dr. Scott, Eddie, Magenta, Columbia, Riff Raff, the Transylvanians, and of course, Dr. Frank-N-Furter and Rocky himself will be at the Strand to do the Time Warp. Again.
Curtain goes up at 11:59 p.m.
