The gas leak on Highway 80 near John’s Grocery at Mt. Alban has been mitigated.

A unit with Atmos Energy was able to safely shut off the supply of gas to the leaking line near a residence at 2131 Highway 80. This residence sits near a location where crews have been actively digging.

The area surrounding the leak, the 2200 to 2600 section of Highway 80 was evacuated and the highway was shut down while the leak was active.

Units from the Culkin fire department along with Fire Coordinator Jerry Briggs, deputies from the Warren County Sheriff’s office including Sheriff Pace, the Mississippi Highway Patrol and the City of Vicksburg Gas Department were all on the scene to assist with the emergency.
