Jackson calling on supervisors to remove flag from county properties

Shawn Jackson, Warren County District 3 supervisor, is calling on her fellow board members to remove the Mississippi state flag from properties, buildings and structures owned by the county.

Her request comes in the wake of the Mississippi Legislature passing a bill Sunday to remove the flag and come up with a new design.

“If such removals require majority vote by our Board, I ask that we immediately call a special meeting … to present an official order for the removal and vote accordingly,” Jackson wrote in a memo.

She hopes to complete the vote before the upcoming July Fourth holiday.
