The Jackson Police Department has arrested a man in connection with the death of a 14-month-old baby.

28-year-old Trevonte Leshawn Willis has been charged with the capital murder of 14-month-old Kahari Lofton, the son of his girlfriend.

On Sep. 29, Lofton was taken to the University of Mississippi Medical Center for breathing issues and died that same day.

Deputy Chief Deric Hearn stated that Lofton died from blunt force trauma brought on by child abuse.

Willis is being held without bond.
